Transitional Concept Store
SKP-S, Beijing, China
SKP-S disrupts the common idea of department stores by combining fashion and art in an immersive museum-like retail space, where expansive non-commerical areas are dedicated to constantly changing installations.
For Fendi, a versatile transformative space was developed to create experiences beyond plain retail. Embedded in the architectural details, the brands DNA is at the projects core, while remaining subtle enough to functions as stage for seasonal animations.
The concept adapts easily to take-overs and pop-in activations, such as Fendi's collaborations with Joshua Vides and Nicki Minaj, where the latter doused the entire space in pink and silver.
The store's shell is a contemporary interpretation of Rome's architecture. Selected materials such as Carrara and Nero Marquina marbles reflect history and presence at the same time, while Fendi's iconic Pequin texture and Karl Lagerfeld's 'Astuccio' pattern are subtly embedded into the design.
